CRAFTING: No Acting Content

Thanks to everyone who played along with my little quiz. I guess it was an easy one!

Yes, it is my family tree! The flowers represent each one of my immediate family's birthstone colors. Dad [July-ruby] is the center left flower and Mom [January-garnet] is the center right. At the top of the tree is my oldest sister [December-blue topaz]; brother #1 [May-emerald]; sister #2, aka Smoochie, [April-diamond]; brother #2 [October-opal] and me [August-peridot].

I'm really happy with how this little tree turned out. I crocheted the flowers using embroidery floss. The most challenging was brother #2's opal flower. I took 4 strands of the white, one strand of pink and one strand of green. Trust that it's cute in person.

The Start Of A Good Thing

Just a quick post before I hop on the train and for a fish fry at my cousin's place. I'm hungry already!!!

Since it's the beginning of Summer, I started my Babette Blanket with my leftover scrap and oddball yarns.

What else could my first granny square be?

It's not perfect, but who is? I love my little orange star! You might not know this about me, but I'm pretty sentimental. I have a few other fancy squares planned to represent things that are important to me. Even Poppy Sassypants will have her own special square.

My 11 squares that I've made so far. I'm trying to be very zen about picking colors, but it's so hard for me! I just have to keep telling myself that in the long run, it will all blend together, so just go with the flow. My least favorite so far is the yellow/orange/blue combo in the top left corner. But strangely, it's the one that stands out most in the picture!

Walk With Me, Lord

Hmmm...what's going down in Superstarra-ville?

I decided to work on Walking After Midnight last night and was 7 rounds away from finishing. I could taste victory! Then right before going to bed, I saw it. A missing shell. Three rounds back. It would normally not be that big of a deal, but it was the beginning of an increase section. Yeah, I debated for a long time. Then I ripped back hours of work. Because in the long run, even though it was in the back of the skirt, it would be one of those glaring mistakes that I would always have following me around.

Also, just to add insult to injury, I decided to slip my lovely skirt over my head. Hmmm...I must have shrunk! I can pinch an inch again! Why is it the projects I seem to look forward to the most are always plagued with problems? My remedy is to finish it today [and maybe in to the wee hours of tomorrow], and crochet the waistband on a smaller hook. There is a drawstring to this skirt, so it may not be as bad as it seems. Plus the cotton will shrink up too. The official name if this skirt is now, Walk With Me, Lord.

I'm quickly losing interest in the Cropped Jacket in Lace Pattern. The bad thing about that is I'm only halfway through the left front. Bad Sign. I'll finish it though, I have a really cute strapless dress that will match it perfectly. I'm thinking to quicken the project, I might shorten the sleeves, but we'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Whenever that is.

Lastly, I'm excited to start Babette once I get Walk With Me, Lord finished. I certainly do stick to certainly colors, don't I?
