What's My Motivation? Kiri Shawl!

I just couldn't do it anymore.

Backstory
Pattern: Kiri Shawl from All Tangled Up. The pattern is a PDF file you can download here. Unlike it's twin sister, Birch, this is knit from the point up. So you increase stitches as you go.
Yarn: Knitpicks Alpaca Cloud in Stream. I used almost one hank.
Needles: Susan Bates Silverado Needles size 6. I used size 8's for the cast off.
Exposition: I started this project on the road back in April. Although the pattern calls for size 7's I decided to go down a size as this was my first lace project. I'm not particularly unhappy with this project, and as this is entirely too small to be a shawl of any sort, it will serve as a lovely scarf for me or some other lucky soul.
The pattern author wasn't kidding when she said the cast off must be loose. I cast off with needles two sizes bigger and thought I was casting off loose enough, but I was wrong! The edging is extremely tight, so points of any sort is out of the question. Because of the lack of give, I'm not really concerned about blocking. I washed it and am just half-assed pinning it down so that pattern opens up just a little. The jury is still out as far as if I consider myself a lace knitter. This project took a lot of effort just to finish. I think that I will try lace again, maybe not this pattern, but if I do revisit Kiri, I will stick to the size 7's or go with a larger gauge yarn. If you want to give Kiri a go, there is a Yahoo! Group that you may find helpful.
